How to See the Future

 QUESTION

“Years ago, I had read your book FUTURE MEMORY.  It intrigued me and I tried doing what was recommended by you and James Van Avery.  I had no success.

“Often, I find myself wondering ‘What is possible,’ or what powers do we humans have?  I ultimately let such thoughts go because, frankly, I don’t know what else to do.  But, I am wondering, is there more information available by Van Avery?  I tried finding any published works by him, but there was nothing I could find (and I am a decent researcher).

“I have scoured the internet for other people, willing to share their stories and experiences, yet, alas, essentially nothing but book reviews (but not experiences).

“PMH, can we truly, honestly, accomplish the ability to see the future?  I assumed that your book is literal with this, and not metaphorical prose (i.e. sounds cool but not literally true).  If you have anything else about future memory that I could read from Van Avery, I am interested.  Yes, I need more stories, examples, and if there were an actual person to talk to, who had experience with this, I would do a backflip(!).....Mark

ANSWER

Mark, John never a wrote book.  He developed the technique described in my book FUTURE MEMORY on his own by experimenting to see if he could in some way see snippets of future events, like a newspaper headline, or what might happen when he journeyed out on any given day.  He was quite successful with his formula.  It was never for “predicting the future,” but rather for seeing what might be ahead for him, news, happenings, even just simple things like that newspaper headline.  He was an engineer and not interested in doing more than he did.

When it comes to PREDICTING THE FUTURE, i.e., the bigger things in life, what might happen to us or the world, that usually is done through psychic predictions, psychic knowing, metaphysical practitioners, astrologers, and other gifted individuals.  Some people know through dreams.  Or suddenly have a vision and know.  There have been many tests run by scientists using random generators, and they have found that globally before an important event, people around the world will start dreaming about the event, or have a flash of intuition that the event will occur - like what happened with Princess Diana’s death or September 11 when so many people died in New York City when Muslim terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center.  People respond to future events if they have an impact behind them - I suspect because consciousness is global.  We are all connected on that higher level subconsciously, and we will all respond if something important is about to happen.  We just do.  We know when we need to know.

Yes, you can be trained to be a psychic who does this.  Seldom do you ever run across anyone with a high number for accuracy, although there are some who can run something like 70% accuracy.  I’ve known a few who ran 90%.

Where you find future memory a lot is with near-death experiencers, adults and children.  The ability to pre-live the future before it occurs in one of the aftereffects - easily 50 to 60% of experiencers have.  Notice I did NOT say predict the future.  This is a pre-living.  In other words, you actually go through all aspects of living something on every level, totally real - before the event actually occurs.  I believe people are able to do this after such an experience, because the experience itself changes brain structure and brain function.  We know that now - some more than others.  But it is an aftereffect of near-death experiences and major transformations of consciousness.

I am sorry you have been trying to find a way to do this on your own.  If this ability - to see the future before it occurs - is important to you. I would recommend you find yourself a good teacher who can help you develop your psychic/intuitive abilities in such a way that you can extend them out farther than normal living, to touch futures and see what you can find.  This will take much practice.  It took Van Avery quite a while too.  You could also contact the Monroe Institute (www.monroeinstitute.org).  They offer a wide-range of classes and experiences.  You may find something that might appeal to you.  Future memory, though, is something quite “else.”  It is not predicting the future.  It is pre-living the future.  Go back to the book FUTURE MEMORY and re-read what pre-living really is and how it seems to work.  You may not fully understand the difference between predicting and pre-living.

Why Die Three Times?

“I am a huge fan.  I just wanted to tell you that I believe the amazing things you say, and I can sense that there is way more knowledge in you that I can understand.  I read FUTURE MEMORY, and am trying to read A MANUAL FOR DEVELOPING HUMANS.  My question is, this one day I was telling my sister about your books and just said she died three times in three months, and my sister stopped me right there, and said:  ‘What had she done to deserve that!’  And I just replied, well, if she hadn’t died, we wouldn’t be learning about a lot of things, and NDEs.  But my mind kept rolling thinking that my sister always tells me that everything happens because of US.  We cause everything.  Is there some truth in this?  I know that The Voice Like None Other told you and guided you to write, and you died for a lot of strong reasons For Humanity, I think.”. . . ANSWER

Well, dear, I’ve faced that question myself - several times.  It never occurred to me to ever say ‘why me.’  What difference does that make?  It was me, so, for 44 years I have done my job, what The Voice Like None Other told me to do.  I put my full self into the job, paid for everything myself, figured out how to write abstracts and papers and books.  No one told me anything.  I just did the job.  Period.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I looked back over my life and saw that this has been my behavior, probably since birth.  I have always tackled the hardest jobs, without help, and wound up being a pioneer doing what no one else did.  I was born with dyslexia and synesthesia (multiple sensing) and faced severe and horrible rebuke in the first grade because I wasn’t like everybody else.  I spent most of the first grade on a tall stool in front of my class wearing a tall conical hat with DUNCE written on it as an example of a bad child who told lies.  Yes, I was the only child in the first grade who could smell color, see music, and hear numbers - for real.  Never did I lie.  Because I went through that, I could recognize synesthesia as an aftereffect of near-death states.

At the end of the first grade, I was soooooooooooo angry.  I always told the truth - yet nobody believed me.  So, when the first grade ended, I decided that adults were stupid and I never wanted to be one when I grew up.  Hah!  My whole life is filled with these kinds of stories and what I did about it.  Always I was on the front line.  Always I was studying and doing things no one else was.  Always I was right, but always I paid a severe price for what I did. . . even though it helped others.  

So, who else to do pioneering work in near-death studies?  Who else could God call forward, who was already prepared, already feisty, already proven as a researcher who got to the bottom of everything?  If you look at my pattern of behavior since childhood, then it makes sense why I was told to do the work I did in my third near-death experience.  In some way, we are always prepared or readied for what we are to do with our lives.  Yes or no is up to us.  I chose to say yes and have no regrets.

Just to let you know, I am now writing a book that brings nearly to a close the work I have done since 1978.  Yes, I still have two more books to go, but this one takes a good look at my life, my deaths, my research.  It “cleans up the slate” for me.  No, it’s not a memoir.  A little autobiographical but mostly a look back, way back, to when I was born in a small doctor’s office near the canyon’s edge of Shoshone Falls.  I was an “out-of-wedlock” baby during a time when that was considered a “crime,” hence the unusual life that followed, as my footsteps to the First Grade matched the deaths occurring during the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  Death was everywhere when I was a child, matching what I faced after being raped in my late thirties, when I was told to investigate. . . death itself.

“This e-mail is long overdue and as such, may be a bit long. But I appreciate you taking the time to read it. I have many times over the last several years thought of writing you, but each time I felt it was not the right time to do so. However, after your last newsletter, the desire was too strong and hence, this e-mail.

“I found you in 2012. I had just gone through dealing with my son’s cancer (he is doing well and the cancer was a true blessing to us both). My daughter gave me a Kindle so I asked for the right books to come to me. Yours was the 17th book (purchased 11-9-12) that I asked to be read. It was “Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of The Story.” One page in and I actually was not just reading the book, the book was surrounding and enveloping me with physical feelings such as tingles and warmth. It was also like being starved and all of a sudden I was given the most satisfying meal I could imagine. Food for the soul! In the process of reading all of your books, I saw George Meek’s name mentioned (“After We Die, What Then?”) a few times and that perked my interest even more as I have somewhat of a history with George Meek of Metascience.

“My Dad, Hans Heckmann, worked on the Spiricom device with George for many years in the ‘80s and ‘90s. My ex-husband also worked for George, and we lived on his property in Franklin, NC, in the early ‘80s. My father often talked about all the mediums that he had met and worked with. My three sisters and I were brought up between two opposites - “Talking to the Dead” and “Talking to the Priest.” My Mom, a staunch Catholic, eventually succeeded in stopping all of my father’s work as she was afraid of lower level spiritual involvement. Just to give you an example from my childhood: my three sisters and I still laugh about the incident when we received spirit phone calls - my Mom threw holy water all over the phones and they stopped calling. I can remember my Father playing us back a tape of voices from the other side praising God. I just try to take the good in each perspective.

“I wanted to share with you two photos. One is from my heavily read copy of “Future Memory” (my favorite book of all time as you can tell from the photo), as well as a photo of a used book I ordered and received with a lovely notation in the front. You have very nice penmanship and I was frankly thrilled to receive a notated copy even though it was not meant for me. I still treasure it.

“Now to the catalyst of this e-mail. When I received your November 2015 newsletter (I devour these ‘deserts’ and click on every link), I noticed the link to “Calling Earth” and promptly watched it. I was moved, remembering the people my Dad loved and worked with. Ernst Senkowski is especially one that I remember, not to mention all the memories of George and Jeanette Meek and the years I spent in North Carolina. I will now have to e-mail Mark Macy to discuss with him. Although I have met and communicated with Mark in the past, he was not as powerful a memory as George and Ernst, although he worked with my Dad for years. Oh, my goodness, we certainly know the same people and have participated in similar projects. George Meek was a good friend to me as he was to many - all his many projects - I promoted them all. Back in the “old days,” I created and ran INNER FORUM in Boise, Idaho. Brought speakers in each month, good ones, in an effort to show the public the difference between fraud and reality, between tabloids and real research and real people who did real work. Worked with over 3,000 people in seven years. It was quite a journey. But then, I was always the one to jump in and find out for myself. I have lived my life by the Russian Proverb: “Trust, but verify.” Then I died, and had to relearn everything all over again. Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz. I call what I went through “the heavenly sledge hammer effect” - three deaths and near-deaths in three months. Phew!

Well, here you are, another soul who has walked many of my pathways. Yes, Future Memory is my favorite book, too. Glad you read Near-Death Experiences: The Rest of The Story. The second half of that book, from Chapter 16 on, got me in all kinds of trouble (not new for me). I stuck my neck out and really did tell at least some of “the rest of the story.” One of these days, I’ll tell even more.

I love the way you grew up. Too bad your mother was so frightened of the real and the wonderful. Mel Morse, Edgar Cayce, and Future Memory

"Firstly, I do apologize. I could not find the link to message you on the blogger site. Obviously, you are free to ignore this question - it's a touchy subject and I couldn't be offended. Do you believe that the Melvin Morse scandal is a 'teachable moment' for those who are spiritually striving to know about ourselves on higher levels? Have you heard anything from the man himself, about his actions? On one hand, it's obvious he wasn't trying to kill his daughter, but he had researched the benefits in intelligence and happiness in kids who experienced NDEs so much, and wanted her to have what they had. He created a situation of mistreatment that could easily lead to the opposite, or he honestly could have killed the little girl. All the same, it was absolutely child abuse, even the things to which he admitted doing. I believe he's been convicted now, but may appeal. It might be good to give a message in the wake of this about how a "Spiritually Transforming Experience" or Near-Death Experience happens when people need it, trying to force it is foolish and dangerous.

"Perhaps also, no scientist is immune to a touch of dangerous madness - he probably saw it as a kindness to try to provoke a near-death experience in his daughter. Instead of learning true kindness from his experiences with these kids or his own meditation experiences he's written about, something got lost in translation or twisted while he researched NDEs in children, making him desperate to cause his daughter to have one. I was hoping you might have a helpful idea or perspective about this. Really, I think it might be important to keep in mind you can't force yourself or (especially) others in such a way. Wouldn't he have had greater results if they had family meditations, etc.? I just can't imagine there aren't 1,000 better ways to guide a child through their natural spiritual growth! After all, wasn't he the one to quote a child saying, "Life is for living! The Light is for later!"?

It's really changed my life - and for opening up and talking about your own childhood experiences! I find your interviews compelling and positive, not like some guru on high, just, 'This is what happened to me, for most, it may be a little different, a lot different, or ineffable.' I found The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences to be really helpful to clarify ideas to my husband, who has a hard time believing in a lot of things, but he definitely is interested. My goodness. So many questions.

As per Mel Morse, there is more involved in his story than has made the headlines. I have known him for a long time, and still cannot figure out why he has taken the road in life that he has. Why he left his first wife and family, has always puzzled me. Why he married this new young wife and had another child doesn't make sense to me either. No, it's not just love. I saw him in Montreal, Quebec, a few days before he was arrested. His wife and daughters were there, too. He gave at that time the best talk I've ever heard him give, and I told him so. He almost collapsed in tears when I said that. We arranged to talk more, as I wanted to know what was going on, but he never came at the time we set. I flew home. He remained to give a workshop, then all of them flew home. The police were waiting for him. Yes, he is in jail. Not sure where or for how long. The woman he married and the daughter she already had, the one he is accused of water-boarding, have a long list of "problems." The truth of this whole affair remains a huge puzzle. . . for all of us.

I will not write a memoir, at least not of my early years. I promised my sister I would not and I will keep that promise. She is afraid others would be hurt if I did, and she may be right. I have and I will continue to write about bits and pieces of my life, and of my later years, when it is appropriate to do so. Suffice it to say, I had five fathers and two mothers, wound up raising myself in many ways - in the sense that I was extremely curious and simply could not be stopped asking questions and "looking around" and finding out things for myself. I did my first double-blind study with a control group at the age of five, testing out mud pies and why some had a certain color and texture and others did not. First grade was a horrible nightmare for me. I was the only kid in school who could see music, hear numbers, and smell color. Got me in trouble again and again. There was so much death then - Pearl Harbor - and I was sooooooooo sensitive. I picked up everything. Played with nature spirits as a child, and did many other things. My biological mother finally married the right man, a police officer. He was a godsend, even though it took me three years to accept him. Wound up spending inordinate lengths of time in the local police station, mostly waiting for Dad to have a coffee break so I could have a ride home. I saw and learned a lot! It wasn't until after I died in 1977, through all the tests I was given, that it was discovered I had been born with dyslexia and synesthesia (multiple sensing). This explained much of my childhood. I became a "normal" human being in high school because I determined to. This worked until I had a mild nervous breakdown at 29.

What saved me was reading a book about Edgar Cayce and having an Edgar Cayce study group invite me to a meeting. Found my home. Bingo! My life finally made sense. I tackled everything after that: became everything - because that was the only way I could understand anything: take it, test it, find out all the variables, test again, try it out, examine. I started Idaho's first non-profit metaphysical corporation called Inner Forum, and through the format of Inner Forum opened up thousands of people, not only in Idaho but throughout the Northwest. I never did anything small. Why, I don't know. Then I died, three times in three months in 1977. I call it the "heavenly sledge hammer effect." Aptly put. The Voice in my third experience directed me into research. Said it was my job. And, I've been doing "my job" ever since. If I told my whole story, no one would ever believe it.

Future Memory is the only book I have written that is a real labyrinth. Every sentence, every paragraph, every page, is part of the math I used to create the labyrinth format. You read through the book as you would walk through a site labyrinth. The book's purpose is to bring your consciousness up to the next highest level possible for you. The book is alive in the sense that it is a brain changer. I was told how to do this by The Voice that spoke to me during my third near-death experience.

Glad you've found much help in the many books I have written. All contain my findings and the stories to back them up. My only departure thus far is Dying to Know You: Proof of God in the Near-Death Experience. This book features the collective, speaking through their own voice, about the collective experience. It is the people, the millions of experiencers who will never write a book or speak on stage. This is their book - bold, direct, what experiencers say. All I did was sum the voice of the many. Fate or Destiny or Choice: How Existence Can Exist

QUESTION

"First let me say I really appreciate the research work you have done, it is very helpful. In addition to NDEs, I spend a great deal of time researching the topic of Free Will. In my studies, it has become very clear that Free Will is an illusion. In recent years, neuroscience findings have really backed this up. One study performed MRI scans of people's brains while the participants "choose" between two options (a brain already made the decision up to six seconds before the person was consciously aware of what they would choose). The person watching the scanner knew what the participant would choose before they even knew! In addition to that, it is more than evident that none of us chose our parents, DNA. environmental/socio-economic upbringing, etc. All of which hardwires our brains into being who we are. Also, it has been shown that tumors pressing on certain parts of the brain make people act a certain way.

"My hypothesis is that the "soul" or consciousness is merely a passenger or an observer being taken for the "physical ride" by the body/brain and all of their natural processes. Would this be accurate to say? Also, many NDErs report being forced to come back to their bodies - being told "it's not your time." This is a common occurrence as you know. Even when they protest and want to stay, they are forced to come back to the physical plane. So, is there any evidence to show that we might actually have some sort of real choice or free will in the afterlife? If not, then who/what is calling the shots? Thank you."....Steve

ANSWER

The best research on futuristic "knowing" was done by HeartMath, and concerns the heart. As you must know by now, about 65% of heart cells are neural cells - thus, the heart is considered our fifth brain (counting the major evolutions of brain growth as "separate" developments of the brain). Indeed the heart is a brain and it informs the brain in our head about 4 to 5 seconds, sometimes minutes, about what is to happen BEFORE it does. Considering that the heart produces an electric field 1,000 times more powerful than the head brain, and a magnetic field 5,000 times more powerful, I have no hesitation in saying that our heart is our first responder. It knows in advance, I believe as a protector, as a way to alert our head brain, and as a way to prepare the entire body for what is to come. Do not get caught up in MRI test results. That's a limited approach. More than our brain "knows things," can think, and make choices.

Fate or destiny or choice. Humankind has been debating this for as long as the human family has existed. What I have noticed in my own work, which spans almost three-quarters of a century (if you consider what I was doing before I died), is that some things (people and events) seem fated in the sense that no matter what or how or when, they will and do occur. We face them because somehow we are "scheduled" to face them. We may not be able to avoid or change them from happening, but we can alter how we respond to them and in altering response, we can change outcomes. Always it's the aftereffects, the aftermath, that can be turned around, leading to "rewired" long-term results. Other things in life correspond to our choices, where we are headed because of our decisions along life's way. Outcomes then tend to match paths chosen.

Read my book Future Memory. It is devoted to the subject that interests you. When you read it, pay attention to page 208 and the chart called "A Model of How Existence Could Exist." Pay attention to the Actual and Virtual Electron. Think of God or the Greater Reality as the Actual Electron. Think of us folks or creation itself as the Virtual Electron. The Actual Electron maintains itself in equilibrium - it is what it is. But, because of the Virtual Electron's ability to change, shift, transform, alter, it can respond to potential and a whole array of ever-changing possibilities. The Actual Electron needs the Virtual Electron to experience itself. Without potential and the variabilities present in potential, creation as we know it could not exist; we would not be here because "choice" would serve no purpose.

I sometimes cringe when people say "we create our own reality." That's a tricky thing to say. To make that statement have any meaning, you need to establish that there are levels, dimensions, to existence. If you think of the spiritual, the higher order, as Level 1 and creation (us) as Level 2, then it does make sense. Everything we can study, know, intuit, indicates that on the higher, finer levels of existence, the soul that we are, our spirit-self, does indeed plan and act in accordance with plans. Yet in the earthplane, where slower energies prevail and we seem bound by our personality or ego self, we can feel tossed around or subject to actions taken or to whatever thoughts and emotions predominate. It's as if choice has little long-term effect and changes hardly anything. This is one of the main purposes of meditation or entering into "sacred silence." You come to realize that differences, variables, serve a higher order and that choice really is the life process. In realizing this and how true it is, you also come to realize that everything is one - on the highest of levels only Oneness exists: One God, one people, one family, one existence, one law (love), one commandment (service), one solution to problems (forgiveness).

Science is incredible. What we are now learning about ourselves and our world is exciting. But science is only a work in progress. You cannot capture or know Truth until you widen the lens of your viewpoint. Combine science with spirituality and you're on your way.
