NDE's and Epilepsy

 QUESTION

“My name is Nicole.  I recently found your book at half-price-books, and I’m very grateful.  I am 33 and have been diagnosed epileptic since I was 11 - although we don’t know when it began.  I have both focal onset and generalized tonic clonic seizures.  I am now experiencing about one tonic clonic seizure every 2 to 3 months, unresponsive to meds.  I’ve had many falls and close calls that I can now call NDE on a much too frequent basis.  Although I have only read a few chapters so far, so much of these words hit very VERY close to home.

“My life has changed radically in the past 7 to 8 years along with the seizures becoming more prominent and intense.  Myself as a human has changed.  I’ve always felt somewhat ‘in tune’ or on a different plane than others, thinking I can talk about these things and they would understand and then they look at me sideways and then they feel the need to explain what schizophrenia is.  This book helped show me that I’m not crazy, that every time I have a seizure or ‘big fall’ it’s like a control-alt-delete to my system telling me get your shit together, hunny, we got you, and then I’m sent on my way.  I don’t believe in any one religion.  I believe there are many for a reason and I respect that.  I understand the concept of deities and what they mean to people, yet I’m cautious when speaking my mind on this subject, especially to Western cultures.  I feel I have other forces out there, guides and family protecting me, and there is a reason for the seizures and a reason I am still alive, and a reason for my progress.  I respect the progress, and continue to transform for the better of not only myself but of this world, hoping that I can make a difference, touch life in a positive way, open eyes to the beauty of us because I know all it takes is one.

“So many things in this book have hit home, it’s mind blowing.  I’m not so scared anymore to be who I am.  Thank you so much.  Oh! I would also like to ask if there is any other research or knowledge you have on NDE and epilepsy historically.  If there might be any bazaar correlation between epileptics and NDE.  Thank you so much.”...Nicole

ANSWER

My goodness, what a sweet and loving letter you sent.

Yes, I have worked with some epileptics.  Several claimed they were indeed NDErs, yet I did not see the pattern of aftereffects with them or in their lives.  So I cannot come out and say the experiences are the same or similar.  What I can say is that in some cases, it does appear as if some epileptics do indeed have NDEs.  Not sure which book of mine you have, but I am absolutely thrilled material in it is helping you.

From my own experience (yes, I too am an NDEr), and from the thousands of experiencers I have studied and worked with, I can say without hesitation that all of us have a role to play, a job to do, in the life we are living.  Most NDErs come back knowing, positively knowing, our job is to be co-creators with the Creator.  Life is purposeful and each and every one of us are important.

I want you to know about Todd Murphy.  He is also an epileptic and is convinced some of his seizures are NDEs.  He is also a researcher and one of the best, especially with children, and especially in Thailand.  He wrote the book SACRED PATHWAYS:  THE BRAIN’S ROLE IN RELIGIOUS AND MYSTIC EXPERIENCES.  It is well worth reading.  Should you wish to know more about him and his work, contact him through his website at www.spiritualbrain.com.
